New Year Nature Meditation

This event has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

New Year Nature Meditation - Monday, January 26 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Old Field Preserve

Bring peace and mindfulness into the new year with a guided walk and seated meditation in LLT's meditation garden in Old Field Preserve. Dedicating focus to each of the five senses, especially while outdoors, will help participants unify and balance their energy with the natural world. A great way to unplug from the world and recharge for an hour.

This program is led by Catherine Downs, a Reiki Master Teacher and a certified Forest Therapy Guide from ANFT. This program is limited to 20 attendees. We recommend sturdy shoes, appropriate layers, and water. Attendees should also bring something to sit on — a blanket, cushion, beach chair, camp chair (or any other props) for additional comfort during the seated meditation. Steady rain or other inclement weather will cancel.

Please register here so that we can be in touch with any updates or changes to the program.

The entrance to Old Field Preserve is on the east side of Mead Street in Waccabuc at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road. There's plenty of parking in the preserve and on the side of the preserve driveway. Owl Prowl

Owl Prowl - Saturday, January 24, 5:30pm at Onatru Farm

Our first naturalist-led educational program of 2026 will be an owl prowl! The program will begin inside the farmhouse to learn all about owls, their behavior, and how we might spot them in their habitat. Once it is fully night, we will walk along the grounds of Onatru calling for owls and looking for signs of them. The program will end back in the farmhouse where we will dissect an owl pellet. If you have ever wanted to learn more about our mysterious nighttime neighbors or wanted to see a wild owl yourself, this program is perfect for you!

This family educational program is recommended for ages 5+, but all ages are welcome. It gets cold on winter nights, so warm layers and sturdy shoes are recommended. We kindly ask that dogs stay home for this program. Steady rain and other inclement weather will cancel.

Please register here in advance so we can plan for owl pellets and inform you of any changes.

Onatru Farm Park is located at 99 Elmwood Road in South Salem. We will meet in the farmhouse at the front of the park. Some parking is available to the left, just past the farm house. More parking is available down the drive, past the painted rocks. To learn more about Onatru Farm Park & Preserve, visit: https://lewisborolandtrust.org/onatru-farm-park.

Winter Solstice Celebration

Winter Solstice Celebration - Sunday, December 21st, 2025, 11:00am - 5:00pm at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Shelter #5

Drop in to celebrate the darkest night of the year with revelry, nature, and community!

Join Lewisboro Land Trust for a celebration of the Winter Solstice! On the darkest night of the year, join your fellow community members around a warm fire to share food and drink, and to dance and sing. We will start off the day with singing and crafts for all ages, followed by a BYO lunch together. Bringing snacks to share is encouraged! Then, we will lead a discussion about braving the quiet, dark times in our lives with Wintering by Katherine May. The day will end with two hikes, although the fire will still burn for those who wish to stay by the shelter. The first hike is a short, easy loop. The second is a moderate hike which will take us to the overlook to watch the setting of the solstice sun.

Specific timed activities are listed below but everyone is welcome to sit and hang out by the fire throughout, as well. Please stop by at your leisure and stay for as long as you want!

11:00am - Crafts and Songs Around the Fire
12:00pm - BYO Picnic Lunch
1:00pm - Book Discussion (Wintering by Katherine May)
2:00pm - Short Family Hike
3:15pm - Overlook Sunset Hike

This program is recommended for all ages and abilities. While we will be around a fire for portions of the day, please make sure you are wearing appropriate layers. We recommend that you bring a camp chair to sit and blankets to cozy up with your family by the fire. Heavy rain or other inclement weather cancels.

Foraged Arrangements & Wreaths

Foraged Arrangements & Wreaths - Saturday, November 22nd (23rd rain date),

Create one-of-a-kind creations from foraged materials to adorn your table and house for Thanksgiving.

Let’s gather to make one-of-a-kind creations to decorate our homes and tables just in time for Thanksgiving! This exciting, artistic program invites participants of all ages and abilities to engage with nature in new, imaginative ways.

There are two ticket options to choose from:

1) Hike the meadow and woods to forage, then create (2-4pm)

2) Create only/No Hike (2-3pm) (this is a good option for anyone with challenged mobility)

We will meet in the field by the community garden behind the farmhouse and begin the program with an introduction and creative inspiration. Non-hikers can spend their time working on their creations. Hikers will be led through the meadow and margins of the fields at Onatru to gather bits of nature we each find beautiful, after which we will return to tables to produce our arrangements or wreaths.

Please plan to bring your own pruning shears, scissors, bucket or basket for collecting cuttings on the hike, vase or wreath frame you may want to use in your creation. You are welcome to bring anything you've foraged prior to the event or other embellishments. We will supply wire, glue, and have a limited amount of tools for use. We will have pre-made vine wreaths and recycled vases available for a suggested $5 donation.

Steady rain or other inclement weather, will move the program to the following day, November 23rd. Rain on both days will cancel the program. This event is recommended for all ages. Sorry, we do not recommend bringing dogs to this event. Sturdy shoes are recommended if you are participating in the foraging portion of the program.

Advance registration is required so that we can plan for supplies and volunteers. PLEASE DO NOT NO SHOW. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as we expect to have a waitlist for this program.
