Free Fern Dig - Saturday & Sunday, October 11th & 12th, 11:00am - 1:00pm at Old Field Preserve
Come to the Old Field Preserve Meditation Garden and dig up some free gorgeous Ostrich ferns for your own garden!
Every two years we thin out the Meditation Garden fern beds because they grow so generously. After digging them up you are welcome to take home as many of these beautiful, healthy ferns as you would like. Our thinned fern beds will thrive because they are no longer crowded so, it's a win/win — thank you for helping!
Feel free to come anytime between 11am and 1pm on either or both days. Bring clippers to cut the fronds down and a shovel to dig up the roots. Bring a bucket or plastic trash bag to transport the plants home. Tell your family, friends, and neighbors!
Sturdy shoes, pants, and gloves are recommended. Refreshments will be served. Steady rain will reschedule. Advance registration is appreciated so we can plan for refreshments and communicate any changes with you.
