Morning and Evening Spring Equinox Family Hikes - at 10am and at 5pm
Join us in the morning (10-11:30am) or evening (5-6:30pm) to celebrate the arrival of spring with a guided hike at Old Field Preserve in Waccabuc!
This short, moderate-level hike will follow the Educational Nature Trail that winds through five different habitats and seven reclaimed fields, illustrating the vast ecological diversity of Old Field Preserve.
The morning hike (10:00-11:30) will be led by LLT’s Preschool Program Coordinator Ingrid Ramos Nakamura and her daughter, and will be geared toward families with younger children (ages 3-7), but all ages are welcome.
The evening hike (5:00-6:30) will be led by LLT board member and outdoor program director Shantala DuGay-Iyengar and her son, and will be suited for kids ages 8+, but all ages are welcome.
Sturdy, mud-resistant shoes are recommended. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome. Steady rain, snow, or other inclement weather cancels.
The entrance to Old Field Preserve is on the East side of Mead Street (at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road) in Waccabuc. There's plenty of parking in the preserve and on the side of the preserve driveway.
