Let's celebrate the arrival of spring with a short toddler hike and planting of flower seeds that we can watch grow every month.
This program allows toddlers to walk at their own pace, stopping to explore along the way. By returning to the same preserve every month, participants can observe the changes they see in the landscape, fostering a keen awareness of seasons and the cycles of nature.
In April we will celebrate the arrival of spring by planting flower seeds in an upcycled water table that will benefit birds and insects. This "toddler pollinator garden" will be something the "littles" can take pride in and look forward to visiting over the coming months. Sturdy shoes and warm layers are recommended. Heavy rain will cancel (we will still hike in light rain).
The entrance to Old Field Preserve is on the East side of Mead Street (at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road) in Waccabuc. There's plenty of parking in the preserve and on the side of the preserve driveway.
