Volunteer Day | Invasive Removal

  • Mount Holly Preserve United States (map)

Volunteer Day | Invasive Removal - Saturday, September 26th, 2026, 10:00am - 12:00pm at Mount Holly Preserve

Join us for a hands-on volunteer event where we’ll spend time removing invasive Euonymus and Japanese Barberry, helping native plants reclaim their space. Every invasive plant removed makes a real difference and helps restore healthier habitat for wildlife in our community.

Euonymus (often called burning bush or wintercreeper) and Japanese Barberry may look attractive in landscapes, but both aggressively invade forests and natural areas, crowding out the native plants that birds, pollinators, and other wildlife depend on. As they spread, they form dense thickets that prevent native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers from growing, reducing biodiversity and weakening the health of our local ecosystem. Japanese Barberry can also create ideal habitat for ticks, adding another reason to limit its spread.

Bring gloves, sturdy shoes, and your enthusiasm! Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or just curious to help out, everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary and additional tools will be provided. Together we can protect our local landscape and make a real difference—one invasive plant at a time.
