St. Paul’s Chapel Trail

Smith Ridge Rd, South Salem, NY 10590

PLEASE NOTE: THESE TRAILS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

St. Paul’s Chapel Trail is on 32 acres owned by St. Paul’s Chapel, and open to the community. Behind the church is a double loop, refurbished by Mike Harris and mapped by Peter Ciacci as part of an Eagle Scout project. Peter also built an outdoor shrine to St. Francis in a clearing at the end of the trail. The kiosk at the trailhead was built by Mike Harris in 2007. An additional trail was created the same year by Lewisboro Land Trust volunteers. This trail includes extensive mountain laurel groves, steep rocky ledges, and a balanced rock that is a glacial erratic.

Highlights

Well-marked trails, a restful spot with benches at the shrine.
