Our earlier hike was so popular that we have decided to offer another on Valentine's Day -- it will be an afternoon walk. Same day (Sunday, February 14th), different time and location: 2:00 at Old Field Preserve, Mead Street, Waccabuc:
Celebrate your love of the outdoors with your family this Valentine’s Day with a guided hike at Old Field Preserve in Waccabuc! This short, moderate-level hike will follow the Educational Nature Trail that winds through five different habitats and seven reclaimed fields, illustrating the vast ecological diversity of Old Field Preserve. LLT board member Shantala DuGay-Iyengar and her son will be your guides. Sturdy shoes are recommended, and traction cleats may be helpful for icy conditions. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome. Steady rain or snow cancels.
The entrance to Old Field Preserve is on the East side of Mead Street (at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road) in Waccabuc. There's plenty of parking in the preserve and on the side of the preserve driveway.
