Honoring Indigenous Wisdom: Hike & Discussion - Sunday, November 2nd, 10am-12pm at Mount Holly Preserve
In honor of Native American Heritage Month we will be meeting at the beautiful Mount Holly Preserve for a short hike and a discussion about ethical reciprocity, the gift economy, and abundance in the more-than-human world. Our short hike will take us through the maple-beech forest and over the Indian Brook which feeds into the Cross River. Our optional discussion will be inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer's most recent book, The Serviceberry: Abundance & Reciprocity in the Natural World. You do not have to be familiar with the book to participate in the discussion, only bring your curiosity and interest in the wisdom of nature.
The hike portion of this program is recommended for school aged children through adults with a carry option for younger children. The discussion portion of this program is recommended for teens through adults. We recommend sturdy shoes, appropriate layers, and water, as well a blanket or small folding chair you can use during the discussion. Steady rain or other inclement weather will cancel.
